Armand Charest and his sister Noella. Noella was a hair dresser who was able to earn her license in the early 1940s because of Armand. While Armand was in the Army he was sending his pay home into a saving account. Noella mentioned to Armand she wanted to become a hairdresser but didn't have the money to attend the school. Armand told her to use his Army money for her school and license. Noella never forgot his kindness and spoke of it often to Armand's children. This photo would have been taken sometime around the later half of the 1990s.

Death Certificate of Martha (Reichelt) Wilkens. Martha was killed crossing a street in Woodbridge, Virginia while her and her husband Eric were driving down to Florida on a spring vacation. Martha was struck by a car going at high speed and reportedly died instantly. Her body was brought back to Long Island, New York, and she was laid to rest at Pinelawn Memorial Park, Farmingdale.
Martha's name is misidentified on her death certificate. Instead of "Martha Alwine Wilkens," her name is listed as "Martha Herta Wilkens, which was the name of her daughter."

This picture was taken of Erich about 1976, at his home in Burlingham, New York. At the time he was retired and kept busy running a "hobby farm," caring for a milk cow, several sheep and a ram, eighty chickens, and a small flock of ducks, along with two vegetable gardens.

One of the ships Louis George Charest served on as a Merchant Marine Sailor. Farrell Lines Incorporated was named in 1948 after James A. Farrell, Jr., and John J. Farrell, sons of James Augustine Farrell, president of US Steel. The company was previously known as American South African Lines (ASAL). It was a passenger line and cargo line in regular service from New York City to South Africa stopping at Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Durban and Lourenço Marques (Maputo) in Mozambique. The ships were well-appointed and carried about 180 passengers.
